Rock Mass 06-07-20

Rock Mass on the first Sunday of the month.

Rock Mass for Sunday June 7, 2020

He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to act justly,
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God.
(Micah 6:8)

Peace, Love and Light!

Here is my blog post on how this month's Rock Mass came about.

The inspiration for creating "Rock Mass" came from the Rock Mass at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena California back in the early 1970’s. On the first Friday night of each month All Saints held a Rock Mass which was a mix of traditional Episcopalian Mass and rock concert. A live band would play popular rock music which couldn’t necessarily be called “Christian” but contained spiritual phrases and references to God or Jesus. During the 1960’s and early 1970’s there was an explosion of these songs coming out of the "secular" music industry way before there was “Contemporary Christian Music”, in a way, it could be called "The Gospel According To Billboard's Top 10".

Great list Cloud. So heartbroken by the injustice all around us, and your list speaks of love, unity and hope - a beautiful thing. As I told my daughter today, activism can only go so far, because apart from Christ, people simply will sin. And as we cry for justice, it can only go so far until we reach that roadblock that will only come down as people turn to Jesus. Praying for us all

Thanks for your comment Reno! I wrestled over how to pick songs that were on target, I kept asking my self "What is the Spirit saying at this moment?" This month's Rock Mass was all set to be about "churchianity" via Jethro Tull, but some things can't be ignored.

Peace, Love and Light!

Any thoughts on "Coexist"?? I've been reading lots of pro's and con's about that simple bumper sticker....

Personally, I think that without all of the dogmatic "I am right, you are wrong" speak we can coexist with those of other faiths... maybe we can even find some common ground that we can agree on... maybe we can go beyond just coexisting and really learn to love each other as brothers and sisters.
