Rock Mass 12-06-2020

Rock Mass on the first Sunday of the month.

Rock Mass for Sunday December 6, 2020

Peace, Love and Light!

The inspiration for creating "Rock Mass" came from the Rock Mass at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena California back in the early 1970’s. On the first Friday night of each month All Saints held a Rock Mass which was a mix of traditional Episcopalian Mass and rock concert. A live band would play popular rock music which couldn’t necessarily be called “Christian” but contained spiritual phrases and references to God or Jesus. During the 1960’s and early 1970’s there was an explosion of these songs coming out of the "secular" music industry way before there was “Contemporary Christian Music”, in a way, it could be called "The Gospel According To Billboard's Top 10".

Post Election - Love Is The Way Forward!

In this post election season the Church needs to remember who we represent and His message of love for the whole world.

We need to be the expression of His love. We need to love each other. We need to love those we disagree with. We need to love our enemies. We need to remember that we are the only Jesus that the world will ever see.

Love is the only way to heal our land! Love is the only way forward!

Here is a song from back in the days of the Jesus People Movement that became the anthem of the Movement.

"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples,
if you love one another.” ~Jesus

Election Day!

 VOTE!

Every vote counts, count every vote!

From my earlier blog post I'm Not Going To Tell You Who To Vote For...

We usually think of paying taxes when we read Jesus’ words “Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s” but I would suggest that here in the U.S. we can apply that to voting as well. We have the privilege and I might add a sacred duty to vote. We can’t vote for a perfect candidate, none exists, but for Heaven’s sake please vote.

Most of all I would suggest that no matter who wins in November that we all remember Paul’s words to Timothy:

“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.” (1 Timothy 2:1-2)

One Day 'Till The Election

We're counting down the days until the election, here is today's meditation from the Hippie Christian Manifesto.

Relationships are sacred and binding,

and they have a direct effect on our

relationship with our Heavenly Father.

Therefore, we are to honor our commitments

and strengthen our relationships,

knowing that being in right relationship with

others is more important than being right.

Vote accordingly!

 LOVE

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
(1John 4:7&8)

If anyone says, "I love God", yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.
(1John 4:20&21)

"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
(Matthew 22:36-40)

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
-JESUS (John 13:34&35)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
(Galatians 5:22&23)

MAY THE LORD DIRECT YOUR HEARTS
INTO GOD'S LOVE AND
CHRIST'S PERSEVERANCE.
(2 Thessalonians 3:5)

Be Ye Doers of The Word

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” ~Jesus (Matthew 7:24-27)

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

~St. James the Apostle (James 1:22)

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

“You have also heard that people were told in the past, ‘Do not break your promise, but do what you have vowed to the Lord to do.’ But now I tell you: do not use any vow when you make a promise. Do not swear by heaven, for it is God's throne; nor by earth, for it is the resting place for his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. Do not even swear by your head, because you cannot make a single hair white or black. Just say ‘Yes’ or ‘No’—anything else you say comes from the Evil One.” ~Jesus (Matthew 5:33-37)
